Today Traviyon, one of my students, greeted me with a big hug, which he often does.  Well today was a very special day because he hugged me, then pulled back and looked at my stomach, then hugged me again, then pulled back and looked at me and said…. Miss Kristi, You’re loosin weight!  You lookin goooood!

HAHA! YESSS I win!!!! I don’t care if he’s 5, i’m taking it.  Especially considering this is the same kid who a couple weeks ago he poked me in the stomach and told me i had a squishy belly button.

Unfortunately my bubble was burst when Trayviyon’s mom came in and informed me that i looked terrible and should consider taking vitamins.  Bwah Bwah

I’ve decided that it really bugs me when Paula Abdul tells someone that they’re a real good singer and makes the g hard.  This is not how this word is said… sin-GER.  Stupid.

I also hate when people call crayons “crowns”  how does crayons become crowns?  They aren’t even kinda the same.

I don’t think i’m necessarily a critical person…. for instance i can deal with the president’s nucular/ nuclear fiasco.  I don’t mind when people say samwich instead of sandwich.  I don’t care if people say probly instead of probably. But please say crayons, and don’t pronounce the G in singer… the ing rule still applies, even if it’s in the middle of a word.

I thought i’d spend sometime putting in some pics of my kids for your viewing pleasure….

this is a tent the kids made in the cafeteria…. they played in it for like 45 min…. which is a super long time for 5 year olds.  My favorite part was when one of my girls lined up the boys and told them which jonus brother they were. lol

0227081756.jpg

this is Austin… we were playing hide and seek and these two laundry baskets were his hiding spot.  The kids didn’t find him for like 15 min.  Finally when his twin brother Jacob asked where Austin was and was convinced that someone stole him, Austin came jumping out of the baskets laughing.

I have two more pics, but for some reason they keep uploading sideways and no matter what i do they won’t rotate…. maybe i’m stupid… any suggestions?

Why did the chicken cross the road?….

To make me late to work.  I wish i was kidding.  I don’t work in a big town, but at the same time, it’s not in the middle of nowhere either.  I’m driving to school, and i’m going to be there right on time and I had to stop because there was a rooster crossing the street.  A ROOSTER!  In town!  Like two blocks away from the highway.   So I stop and the rooster stops right in front of me…. and it’s looking at me.  So i try to inch around him, and he cuts me off…. SERIOUSLY!  The stinking rooster would NOT get out of the way!  It was like guarding the road.  I finally was able to get past him, but it took forever…. and i was like 5 minutes late for work.  Because of the rooster.  Stupid rooster.

Oh and one of my boys told me a “funny” joke today.  (remember he’s in kindergarten)

What do you call a pig that does karate??

pork chop!

Anyway I laughed a lot.  And then another boy, Aaron, asked me how babies get out of mommies’ tummies.  I pretty much froze trying to decide what to say.  I don’t want to lie and make up some silly fairy tale about babies…. but at the same time, I don’t want to say anything that’s going to get me in trouble with parents.  I’m about to make up some answer when he asks, do they cut a hole in the belly to pull it out?  And i enthusiastically answer.  YES!  they do do that sometimes!  Then we quickly changed the subject.  YIKES! I hope this doesn’t come up again.

Webster has taken Crayola’s lead and I am not impressed.

When Crayola started going for the 96 and above crayon boxes, they began making up colors…. purple mountain majesty – not a color- song lyric….. macaroni and cheese- this is a food not a color.  I think Crayola can do better

Well webster has taken up the same practice… i just saw on Jeopardy thatWebster has added ginormous to the dictionary as of 2007.  Now don’t get me wrong, i use this word, i have for years, but come on, it’s funny, it’s not a real word.

anybody have a favorite “word or color”

Is it weird that I always seem to look at the clock when it’s 12:34…. it’s one of my favorite times… you know because of the 1-2-3-4 thing…. anyway… it’s never intentional, yet it always seems to happen.

I saw it snow real flakes last night…. err… this morning?… for the first time since I went to Texas, the weather never seems to cooperate when i’m home, but it did today.  It didn’t drop much, but it was enough that the ground was covered and everything was beautiful this morning.  It even made that great crunch sound when i walked across it on the driveway to get to my car.  I had nearly forgoten that sound… ah! it’s amazing.

I went to my brother’s tonight and we watched mike huckabee on youtube.  I guess he was on SNL and he basically made fun of himself for still being in the race.  Man I love that guy…. Oh and i saw this other clip with him on Leno or some other late night show…. anyway.  The guy who posted the video was making a big deal about this being why this guy should never run for public office…. basically the clip was of Huckabee telling a story of when he was in college him and his buddies caught some squirles and wanted to cook em up, but lived in a dorm so they used their pop corn poppers to deep fry the suckers.  and i say, that’s exactly the kind of guy I want in office…. come on… intuitive, flexible, frugal…. what more could we want???

thank you sagu for giving us a winter break. Since we had a couple of days off school I grabbed a deal on a cheap flight (thanks to daddy) and headed home. I’m already enjoying the luxuries from home. I had leftover lasagna for lunch and i’m catching up on my project runway.

Judy’s play, Pirates of Penzance, is this weekend, so i’ll see that tonight, and hopefully cram in a little time with all my friends and family. It’ll be a whirlwind, but it’s still good to be home.

by the way, grandma just came in to ask me if I would sleep with her tonight. Welcome home Kristi!

NO WHINING!

Today was kinda a whiny day for all the kids at the Y.  I don’t know if it was the weather front coming in or what (it was getting ready to rain buckets).  But almost every single one of my kids cried today about something.  We also got a new student today and in the special notes section on his registration form, his dad put that he tends to have accidents…. great.  Anyway back to whining.  All the kids are crying and i’m going nuts.  Finally we take the kids inside and one of my precious little girls was throwing a bloody fit because she wasn’t the line leader.  I told her she wasn’t going to be the leader and she needed to stop crying, but she’s very persistent, so I was trying my best to ignore her…. although difficult because i’m about at the end of my rope.  Finally, one of my boys, exasperated, yells… Kennedy, good grief, stop whining!!!  She immediately corked it.  Thank you Tray, you’re the best.

Bare Rock Oh Momma!

Today is President’s Day. Waxahachie ISD was in session today, so I had to work. At the beginning of the day, I usually try to get my Kindergarten kiddos to talk about what they learned at school that day. Since it’s President’s Day, I asked the kids what they knew about Presidents. Most of them said that George Washington was the first, that he cut down a cherry tree, and that he couldn’t lie. A couple of other kids threw out the name George Bush, but that was about all I got. So I asked the kids if they knew that we were getting ready to get a new president. They didn’t, and asked me who it was going to be. And i said we don’t know yet, we have to vote. One of my kids, Trayvion, was begging, come on, just tell us. (I guess he didn’t quite get that no one knows yet, he thought i was just keeping a secret.) Anyway I did tell them that it would be one of three people…. John McCain, Barack Obama, and Hillary Clinton. And then I asked them who they would vote for. They pretty much said Barack Obama unanimously…. but that’s because they thought i was saying Bare Rock Oh Momma, and cracked up laughing. I couldn’t convince them that Bare Rock Oh Momma is a real person, and that’s his real name….. So America… 5 year olds pretty much unanimously will vote Obama… but that’s because they think he’s a joke.

I’ve had a fever for the past few days and it’s starting to wear me out.  I don’t really feel all that bad.  I just keep going back and forth between chills and sweating.  Today as i got up out of bed i was feeling a ton better and decided that my sickness was over.  I went to class, grabbed some breakfast then headed on to chapel.  Chapel is notorious for its icebox impersonation.  Today however, i thought i was going to die it was so hot.  I was super uncomfortable and fidgety  trying to get past the fact that I was sweating.  I leaned over to my friend Chris Parker to make a comment about he heat, he asked if I was kidding, and that he was freezing.  Crap, my fever must be back… this stinks.
