all 123 Y kids sang me happy birthday today at the top of their lungs…. it was so cute i almost cried.  And they called me “birthday girl” all day and wanted hugs.  hehe….

oh yeah and i wore a “birthday girl” tiara and sash had dress-up clip on earrings, and carried a sparkly wand…. see

all week long i have been looking forward today.  I am not a shopper by nature but i was going today to oldnavy to get some $1 flip flops and to kohls for some on sale REALLY cute sundresses.  it was going to be great.  I came home with a tank of gas and a cherry coke.  On the bright side, yesterday i went and saw Wanted… i highly recommend it… and can i note, as much as i dislike the “f” word.   Morgan Freeman is officially allowed to say it whenever he wants, it’s awesome coming out of his mouth.

So far this summer has been full of lots of laughs… and unfortunately 90% of them i can’t share on here due to the fact they are mostly body language, and facial expressions.  But still… my group of 4 year olds are hysterical… here’s a couple fun ones.

Blake (who is a squatty red-headed kid…. his head is roughly the size of a full grown man who has a big head…. and he’s ALL forehead.  Kelli ain’t got nothing on him)  anyway this was what he said

Blake: tomorrow for lunch i’m bringing poison and fire (and he says this all matter of fact, out of the blue with his hands on his hips and nodding his head to let us know “he’s serious”

(the next day) Papa(my co-worker aka shaun): Blake.. where’s the poison?

Blake: My mom said no

this just stuck me as extremely funny… someone who flat out says he’s bringing poison for lunch first asks his mom if it’s ok…. i dunno…. it’s funny

One of our kids, Nathan, has asperger’s syndrome, he’s a really great kid, but sometimes there’s just a little much going on for him and he goes CRAZY.  this was one of those days

Nathan is trying to punch another kid, Chase (who is 11) in the nuggets. Chase isn’t letting him do it (obviously) and is tired of messing with the kid so looks at me for some help.

Me: Nathan come on, let’s not punch Chase

Nathan: I’m trying to make him pee in his pants!

Me: well nathan, Chase is a big boy, he won’t pee in his pants, you’ll just hurt him

Nathan: but i’m trying to punch him in the wiener and if i punch hard enough, he might pee, and that would be hilarious!

Me: (trying really hard not to laugh) well maybe but lets go play with the volleyball

Nathan: if i punch you in the wiener, will you pee?

Me: no nathan, volleyball!

Nathan runs off with the volleyball and Chase is very thankful.

i accidentally got up too early today.  my roommate fell asleep with the tv on, and it woke me up… but it was one of those when you wake up refreshed and wide awake…. and when i looked at my phone i realized that my alarm was to go off in 3 min…. so it was actually a nice relaxing wake up… kinda.  So i got up, showered, got ready for work, took my meds, ate some breakfast, and headed out the door.  One of my friends from school, Kara, and I carpool to work bc we work the same schedule.  Today’s my day to drive so i sent her my morning text at 6:45 to let her know i was on my way and she quickly sent me one back…. it’s wednesday, we don’t work until 7:30, I just woke up.  Dang…. I hate when i do that…. On the up side… now i have time this morning, to read my blogs, write a little, and do a bit of facebook.

oh yeah… and strep is still hanging strong.  No more fever, and although the throat is feeling better, i still have to brace myself before swallowing my own spit…. it’s gonna be a day of pain killers to get me through work.

paint, scotch tape, and ipods on shuffle

this is my friday night….

i got bored and wanted to paint… i had an idea, but i couldn’t find my painter’s tape… scotch tape was gonna have to do… and it worked pretty good…. i think

i don’t listen to my ipod on shuffle very often…. i always want to because it seems like the “cool-organic-thing-to-do”  I realized why i don’t do it…. it tends to play all the random songs that i don’t really listen to…. and then when i get one or two really good ones in a row, and i start to get excited, i get blasted with a beethoven symphony…. which i love…. but 30 some-odd minutes of orchestration has a way of stealing your “yeah, now i’m groovin,” feeling…. why is my brother’s ipod on shuffle so much cooler than mine??

yesterday we went to the waterpark with the y kids… and i remembered when i was young, we used to go down the waterslide on our butts… pulling out feet up and leaning back a bit and you’d give yourself a wedgie so you went super fast…. there used to be a name for going down the slide like that… but i can’t remember… if anyone has any idea what i’m talking about PLEASE tell me what that was called.

Day camp at the YMCA is giving me a bad tan…. working the grounds getting ready for camp gave me a terrible farmer’s tan…. i’ve worked really hard to over come it, and am doing pretty well except for my feet….. i still have tan legs, crisp line and WHITE feet.  Today was a field trip day… we were at Hawaiian Falls water park in Mansfield ALL DAY.  i was tempted to not put sunscreen on my feet and try and even them up, but i chickened out and sunscreened um up.  Now that i’m home several hours later i’ve noticed that one of my feet is a little burned but the other has no signs of sun at all….. So now i’m going to have one really white foot and one almost normal foot….. i haven’t decided if this is better or worse.

I would also like to note that 90% of the kids and all of the boy counselors came home fried.  of my 9 little rascals (our group team name for the 4 year olds and 5 year olds that have not yet been in kindergarten)  Zero were burned.  my lil babies with super delicate skin were all protected, because (this is for you judy) i was the sunscreen nazi. I carried around 50spf and i personally made sure all my kids were well covered before we left, and each child was re-slathered twice during the day. They fought me and whined and complained…. but they were pretty much the only kids without sunburns.  Their moms thanked me.
