The last couple of days i’ve been checking on with some of the other site directors to see how my kids from last year are doing…. they’ve all graduated out of the early childhood school, and onto BIG SCHOOL!

I had this awkward texting conversation with Hercules (kendall) known for bruising me all summer, and my peeing on him incident… to see how Ryan Morgan aka chunky soup is doing

Me: you lovin my chunky soup?

Herc: uuuhhhh…. say what?

Me: lol… that was awkward, sorry… you lovin Ryan morgan aka chunky soup?

Herc: oh yeah… he’s great…. except when he pees on the playground in front of all the girls

Me: yeah… that sounds about right.

I miss my kids!!

Exodus 2

Most of this i got from somewhere else…. but i’m gonna share anyway

In Exodus 2, Moses has killed the Egyptian for “helping out” a fellow Hebrew and is on the run.  He stops in Midian and these shephards come along to mess with Jethro’s daughters.  Now Moses could have thought… you know last time i tried to help somebody out, i became a murderer and an outlaw… but that didn’t stop him from helping this time…. he came to the rescue of the daughters and then went and watered their flock for them.

This is a great example of how God prepares his servants to do his work.  It’s like a babystep to the “big rescue” Moses will do later. We have to be willing to do God’s little work so that we can be ready to do His big stuff

Meanwhile it says that the Hebrews are crying out to God to deliver them, and it says that God heard their groaning and remembered his covenant with Abraham. Now… God doesn’t actually speak here… but if he did, it’s almost like he’s saying…. I hear you! Even now I’m watching your deliverer making babysteps and getting ready for your delivery! We may not see God working, we may feel like He’s forgotten us… but He hears us when we call… and He’s getting stuff ready… we just need to wait!

Weird, huh? maybe not

i’ve recently started casually studying of the book of Exodus.   Usually i don’t think of the OT history books as a place to get a lot of “teaching” or for God to do a lot of speaking to me in…. I usually save that for the NT didactic books (books that teach in nature…. like the epistles).  -see i did learn something in bible college-

Anyway… i know that this is a false idea, because God speaks through the whole of scriptures… but still… that’s what i think sometimes.

Through these first few chapters of Exodus the last couple of days, I think God has spoken more things to me… and given me more encouragement than i’ve heard from Him in the past several months combined…

Cool.  I love God, He’s neat.

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!

it was today…. super fun!  I only had 8 kids today!!! last year i ran 23…. 6 girls and 17 boys. I have 11 signed up but only 8 shows today.  I know my numbers will grow in my next few weeks, but the low numbers are refreshing.  We had so much fun today teaching the kids procedures.  Harry Wong (yes that’s really his name) writes and gives lots of conferences about classroom management and he says that the first week of school should be pretty much just teaching procedures.  So today we learned lots of rules… and i of course add my own quirks…. what fun are rules if you can’t have some to laugh at right?  LIKE….. in the hallway we have to be sneaky (so the kids tip toe like spies through the hallway… CUTE!  AND i hate listening to screaming all day…. so we are only allowed to scream for blood and snakes.   All in all we had a really fun day.  OH!  I have Travion’s little sister Destinee!  (boom boom)  Her momma calls her boom boom because she doesn’t mess with travion… when he’s messing with her she pulls back and full swing punches him!  HA! i love it.  Anyway…. i’m glad to be back, and looking forward to the year!

my most embarrassing day

yesterday was our last day of day camp at the y.  I usually get off work at 2 but i had stuck around to watch our award ceremony and get some things together for afterschool care which starts on monday.  3:30-45 rolled around and I was the only girl around so I went to help get girls ready for swim time which starts at 4.  So i’m out on the deck talking to a few coworkers and watching the kids when one of the guys, Hercules, grabbed me and threw me in the pool…. in my clothes (I have nothing else to change into) AND my socks and shoes… gross.  This is just plain squishy and clingy and uncomfortable so i decided that Herc needed a swim as well… I had him around the waist and pulled within about a step of the pool when he broke my grip… i didn’t want to lose him completely so i sat down on his foot and wrapped my arms around his knee.  I’m trying to make him lose his ballance and get back up at the same time, and he drags me away from the pool (i’m still sitting on his foot). At this point someone says something super funny and I laugh real hard…. combined with the fact that I am wet and cold and haven’t been to the bathroom all day…. I peed a little.  Now… Herc would have never known because after all it was just a dribble and i’m soaking wet…. except that when it happened I gasped.  Herc immediately asked… What just happened? and i, a little too excitedly exclaimed, NOTHING!…. So now, Herc HAD to know and began pinching my arms and legs (remember the bruises from a few posts ago) I tried thinking of a lie…. but i’m no good under pressure and it just came out…. when i laughed i accidentally peed a little.  Everyone thought it was super funny…. except for herc.  And now…. after a whole summer of being that quirky, goofy, fun girl… on the very last day i became the girl that pees on people.

FINGER PAINTING!

The last week of camp our numbers have been way down, especially for my little rascals because many of them started school early.  most of the summer we ran about 10-12 4 year olds, but this week we have only had 4, two of which don’t show up until late morning.  The other day since i only had 2 kids in the morning, and we’ve been stuck inside due to rain all week, i decided it was time to finger paint!

this is Alaylah, she not only had paint all over her hands and face, but it was all over her knees and feet…. i don’t know how we managed to mostly keep it off her clothes.

this is Ethan (the one who peed in his eye) he had SOO much fun making hand prints and mixing colors to discover what they made.  unfortunately, he’s my clean freak so he finished first and immediately began to cry to have his hands clean.

Alaylah’s finished product… too cute right?  I thought she did fantastic.  I missed Ethan’s finished product, but it was super good too.

i gotta totally awesome ring from one of my kids…. see?
